CANTON, Ohio —

The City of Canton Collection Systems Department works year round to keep our sewers working safely and efficiently.  One of the key components of keeping things running smoothly is a series of lift stations.  These mechanisms, like the one pictured above, are located underground and are known as “sanitary lift stations.”

A few more facts about sanitary lift stations:
• Lift Stations are pumping facilities that keep wastewater (sewer) flowing throughout the City
• Lift Stations are powered by High Electrical Voltage
• Lift Stations operate 24/7/365
• Lift Station are frequently inspected and cleaned to keep odor and excessive grease out of the sewer lines
