City of Canton FY 2018
Department of Development
Request for Proposals

The Department of Development issues Request for Proposals for various grant funds.

Emergency Solutions Grant
Request for Proposals

The objective of the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program is to increase the quality of emergency shelters and transitional housing facilities for homeless individuals and families, to operate these facilities, provide essential social services, and to be used for operations, maintenance costs, supportive services, and staff costs (grants for salaries may not exceed ten (10) percent of the grant awarded to each agency). The 2017 funding level is $213,000 and we anticipate the 2018 funding to be the same.

HOME Funds
Request for Proposals

The HOME program is the largest Federal block grant to state and local governments designed exclusively to create affordable housing for low-income households. Each year it allocates approximately $2 billion among the States and hundreds of localities nationwide.  The program was designed to reinforce several important values and principles of community development.  The 2017 funding level is $467,000 and we anticipate the 2018 funding to be the same.

All citizens, groups, or organizations who may be interested in submitting proposals for funding should submit applications to the City of Canton Department of Development beginning Monday, November 13, 2017. Applications will be accepted until Friday, January 12, 2018, at 12:00 Noon.

The City of Canton anticipates receiving approximately $2 million in CDBG funds. The City will utilize a portion of this grant to undertake certain City housing rehabilitation, demolition, public improvements, public services, fair housing, planning, and program administration. At the discretion of the City, the remaining balance of funding may be allocated to various activities designed to address the goals and objectives of the City's CDBG program.

The City of Canton's focus in the RFP will be on proposals that will impact our Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Areas (NRSAs).
