Official Biography of
William J. Healy II

Mayor William J. Healy IIWilliam J. Healy II was elected in 2007 and is currently serving in his eighth year as Mayor of Canton. Before becoming Mayor, he served two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives. Mayor Healy was selected as a member of the Ohio Delegation for the 2012 Presidential Democratic National Convention and was one of Ohio’s Electoral votes that reelected Barack Obama as President of the United States.

Mayor Healy focuses most of his time creating new opportunities for economic development and job creation in Canton. A large part of his strategy depends upon cooperation between local governments in the region and an increased emphasis on the development of international trade. Mayor Healy is diligently working to keep jobs in Canton as well as attract new jobs to his city.

In addition to his economic concerns, Mayor Healy’s priorities are making Canton safer, improving neighborhoods and promoting quality education opportunities for every child in his community. Mayor Healy is committed to making Canton a city where people want to live, work, and raise a family.

Mayor Healy earned his Associate’s degree from Kent State University’s Stark campus, a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Rowan University in New Jersey, and an MBA Degree in Management from the NYU Stern School of Business in New York.

Mayor Healy is the current President of the Ohio Municipal League, Board of Trustee Member of the Kent State Stark Advisory Board, Trustee of the Stark Development Board, President of the Canton Health Board, and serves on numerous other city, county and civic organizations.
