OPRA Citizen of the Year Awarded to Andy Black, Canton Park Commission
By Theresa Gang
Released/Published: Nov 25, 2014

Congratulations to Canton Park Commissioner, Andy Black, who is the winner of the 2014 Ohio Parks and Recreation Association (OPRA) Citizen of the Year Award. Andy was nominated by Canton Parks and has served as a member of the Canton Park Commission (CPC) for nineteen years including fifteen years as President. His consistent and level headed leadership has allowed Canton Parks to survive through countless budget reductions and increased maintenance demands. After almost two decades of voluntary service, Andy served as the Chairperson of the first successful park levy in the history of the City of Canton. The award will be given at the OPRA conference in February. We are grateful that Andy has been a champion to Canton Parks and our community.
