The Citizens Police Academy is a great opportunity for citizens to receive an inside perspective of the operations of the Canton Police Department.

This nine-week academy will include K-9 training demonstrations, Internal Affairs, Use of Force and Self Defense, SWAT, Vice/Gang Task Force, the court system, introduction to firearms safety, Taser and much more.  Participants will also have the unique opportunity to ride-along with a police officer on duty.

The Citizens Training Academy is located at 1430 Cherry Avenue SE and was formerly the old fire station. Light refreshments will be served.

 

Participants must be 21 years of age or older. A background check will be conducted as part of the application process. Applications will be retained for consideration of the next Academy.

 

Applications for the Citizens Academy may be printed and are available for pick-up and return at the Canton Police Department Information Desk at the Police Department. The address is :
