City employee elected President of regional trade association

Leiendecker has served for 12 years in Water Reclamation Facility

CANTON, Ohio – Mayor William J. Healy II announced Monday that John Leiendecker, a 12-year employee of the City of Canton's Water Reclamation Facility, has been elected the President of the Northeast Section of the Ohio Water Environment Association (NESOWEA). 

“Employees like John are indispensable in city government,” Healy said.  “His experience has proven to be invaluable for the people of Canton, and we are thrilled that he will now be an ambassador for us throughout the region.”

With over 900 wastewater professionals as members, NESOWEA is recognized as the leading resource organization for preserving and enhancing northeast Ohio's water environment. 

John has worked in the water environment field for over 30 years, serving as Assistant Superintendent of the City of Canton Water Reclamation Facility since 1996.  His duties focus primarily on the daily operations and management of the facility, which has won many awards for water quality and overall performance during his tenure.

John is married to his beautiful wife Laura, and has two sons: Ethan and Jaret.
