The Citizens Police Academy is a great opportunity for citizens to receive an inside perspective of the operations of the Canton Police Department.
What the Academy Includes
This nine-week academy will include:
- The court system
- Internal Affairs
- Introduction to firearms safety
- K-9 training demonstrations
- SWAT
- Taser
- Use of force and self-defense
- Vice/Gang Task Force
Participants will also have the unique opportunity to ride-along with a Police Officer on duty.
Location
The Citizens Training Academy is located at 1430 Cherry Avenue SE and was formerly the old fire station. Light refreshments will be served.
Requirements to Participate
Participants must be 21 years of age or older. A background check will be conducted as part of the application process. Applications will be retained for consideration of the next Academy.
