Under the direction of Chief John Gabbard, the Canton Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards is located on the 3rd floor of City Hall.
One of the main purposes of this bureau is to "police" employees of the department. Officers today are working in a very complex society, and often in a hostile environment. Police are trained to handle just about any situation that may occur and are expected to resolve each one that does.
They are sworn to do this without reservation and uphold all ethical responsibilities of their position. They must always remember to strive constantly to live up to the highest standards of conduct and professionalism in policing. If that standard is compromised, however, we are here to help.
This site was developed to aid citizens who are looking for information about the Office of Professional Standards as well as those who want to know how to file a personnel complaint against one of our officers. If you have questions or concerns, you can call our office at 330-489-3377 to come in to see us. If there is a problem you know about, we want to hear from you.
