36th St NW Multi Department Project - Phases 1 & 2

Description: Joint projects with City Engineering department to reconstruct roadway, storm and water: 

  • Phase 1 water portion to replace 1,500 feet of 6” and 12” waterline, improve storm drainage and to reconstruct the street. The waterlines were originally constructed in the 1930. The project began August 2020 and scheduled to be completed spring 2021. The estimated total project cost is $1.6 million. Partial funding is being provided through the Ohio Public Works Commission. The project limits are 36th St Street NW from Logan Ave. to Market Ave.
  • Phase 2 water portion to replace 2,600 feet of 6” waterline, improve storm drainage and to reconstruct the street. The waterlines were originally constructed in the 1930. The project is scheduled to begin summer of 2020 and scheduled to be completed spring 2021. The estimated total project cost is $2.9 million. Partial funding is being provided through the Ohio Public Works Commission. The project limits are 36th St Street NW from Frazer Ave. to Logan Ave.

39th St NW Multi Department Project

Description: Joint project with City Engineering department to reconstruct roadway, storm and water: Water portion to replace 3,950 feet of 6” waterline originally constructed in 1930. The project limits are Cleveland Ave to Norman Ave. The estimated total project cost is $3.1 million. Partial funding is being provided through the Ohio Public Works Commission. This project is scheduled for summer 2021.

Colonial Blvd NE Multi Department Project - Phases 1 & 2

Description: Joint projects with City Engineering department to reconstruct roadway, storm and water: 

  • Phase 1 water portion to replace 2,200 feet of 8” waterline originally constructed in 1917. The project limits are Market Ave to Rowland Ave. The estimated cost of the waterline is $750,000. This project is scheduled to begin spring 2022 and be completed fall of 2022. 
  • Phase 2 water portion to replace 1,800 feet of 8” waterline originally constructed in 1927. The project limits are Rowland Ave to Maple Ave. This project is currently scheduled for 2025.

Edgefield Waterline Replacement - Phases 1 & 2

Description: Both phases of this project are being partially funded through the Ohio Public Works Commission.

  • Phase 1 replaces 7,100 feet of 6” and 8” waterline originally constructed circa 1930. The streets included in this project are 38th St., 41st St. Grunder Ave., Vernon Ave., Shanabruck Ave., Arnold Ave., and Edgefield Ave. The estimated cost is $2.1 million. The project is scheduled to begin late summer 2021.
  • Phase 2 replaces 9,200 feet of 6” waterline originally constructed circa 1955. The streets included in this project are 38th St., 40th St., 41st St., Westview Ave., Bernard Ave., Noman Ave., Northview Ave., and Woodland Ave. The estimated cost is $2.5 million. The project is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2021.

Cleveland Ave. NW Water Main Replacement

Description: Project to replace over 10,000 feet of 6”, 8”, and 12” water main along Cleveland Ave. from 30th St. NW to 50th St. NW. This project is very important to the upgrade of our distribution system and will address a prominent area plagued by main breaks. The estimated total project cost is $2.6 million and funding is being provided through the Ohio Public Works Commission. The project is scheduled to begin April 2021.      

Concrete Main Inspection Program

Description: This is the third year of a three-year program to locate any possible leaks along the 30 miles of concrete water lines running from the Sugar Creek water treatment plant to the City. The program started in 2019 and will be completed in 2022 with 10 miles of waterline being tested in each of the three years. 

Valve Maintenance Program

Description: This is the third year of a four-year program to operate, test, assess and collect GPS information for all the main line water valves in the water distribution system. The program started in 2019 and will be completed in 2022 with 25% of the valves being completed each of the four years.

Cromer Water Reservoir

Description: Per the assessment completed in 2021, it was determined that the existing 15 million-gallon reservoir needs to be demolished and a new reservoir built in its place.  The new reservoir will be approximately 7.5 million-gallons to improve turnover and water quality in the system. The estimated cost of construction is $11 million. Funding for the project is expected to be provided through the Ohio EPA's Water Supply Revolving Loan Account. The improvements are scheduled for 2022.

Sugar Creek Water Treatment Plant Renovation

Description: The project includes improvements to the Sugar Creek Wellfield, Water Treatment Plant and Surge Tanks based on the recommendations outlined in the March 2020 Sugar Creek Water Treatment Capital Improvement Plan.  Major improvements are required to sustain water treatment and distribution services. Improvements include site, process, building, mechanical and electrical improvements.  The estimated cost of construction is $32 million. Funding expected to be provided through the Ohio EPA's Water Supply Revolving Loan Account. The renovations are scheduled for 2022.

Canton South Regionalization - Phase 2 and 3

Description: Phase 2 and Phase 3 will be completed together as a single project and will include the installation of new 2", 6", 8" and 12" water lines and appurtenances in Canton Township.  Approximately 32,700 lineal feet (6.2 miles) of water main, 57 hydrants, 97 valves and approximately 420 water service connections will be installed. The estimated cost of construction is $4.8 million.  Funding will be provided per the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA.)  The project will begin in 2022.

Harvard Ave Area Watermain Replacement

Description: This project includes the replacement of existing mains and the installation of 7,100 feet of 6" and 8" water main, services and appurtenances in the Harvard Ave area where the existing water mains have reached their life expectancy and several breaks in the area have resulted in emergency repairs.  The estimated cost of construction is $1.9 million.  Partial funding will be provided per Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC.)  The project is scheduled to begin late 2022.

Market Ave N Watermain Replacement

Description: This project included the replacement of existing mains and installation of 6,500 feet of 6", 8", 12", 16", 20" and 24" water main, services and appurtenances along Market Ave N from 30th St. to 44th St. ahead of the ODOT repaving project slated for 2024/2025 (PID 101269.) The estimated cost of construction is $1.6 million. Partial funding will be provided per Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC.)  The project is scheduled to begin 2023.

11th Street Multi Department Project

Description: Joint roadway, sanitary and water project.  The water portion of the project involves the replacement of existing mains and installation of 3,500 feet of 8" and 12" water main that are 100+ years old.  The approximate limits are Cleveland Ave SW to Madison Ave SW. The estimated water portion is $850 thousand.  The project is planned to start summer of 2023.

14th Street/Allen Ave Multi Department Project

Description: Joint sanitary and water project.  The water portion of this project involves the replacement of existing mains and installation of 1,900 feet of 4", 6" and 8" water main that are 100+ years old.  The approximate limits are Allen Ave SE to Cherry Ave SE.  The estimated water portion is $500 thousand.  The project is planned to start spring of 2022.
