Wal-mart to donate lawn care equipment to neighborhood groups

City Development Director Robert Torres announced Friday that Wal-Mart has agreed to donate twelve (12) lawn mowers and six (6) weed eaters to the Stark Community Foundation’s Neighborhood Partnership Grant Program.  Neighborhood association members will use the equipment this summer to help the City maintain vacant homes and empty lots before they become overgrown eyesores.

Council approves Development funding requests

CANTON, Ohio - On Monday evening, Canton City Council approved two funding proposals from the city's Department of Development totaling $65,000, both of which will go to local social services agencies that assist families in crisis.

The Domestic Violence Project, Inc., a local organization dedicated to helping find safe shelter and counseling for women and children who are victims of domestic violence, will receive $50,000 in federal grant dollars to help support their operations.&…
