9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
Event Date: 2009-09-11

Firefighters, police officers, and safety personnel who served or lost their lives during or in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks upon the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the crash-landing of hijacked Flight 93 in Pennsylvania will be honored during the ceremony.  The victims of the attacks will also be remembered during the event.

City water reclamation facility earns top national honor four years in a row

Mayor William Healy announced Wednesday that the City of Cantonís Water Reclamation Facility recently earned the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) Gold Peak Performance Award for the fourth straight year. The Gold Peak Performance Award was presented to the Water Reclamation Facility for its achievement of 100% compliance with its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits for 2008, which control the discharge of harmful materials into natural water sources and ecosystems.

Mayor, business leaders meet with state development officials in Columbus

Wal-mart to donate lawn care equipment to neighborhood groups

City Development Director Robert Torres announced Friday that Wal-Mart has agreed to donate twelve (12) lawn mowers and six (6) weed eaters to the Stark Community Foundation’s Neighborhood Partnership Grant Program.¬† Neighborhood association members will use the equipment this summer to help the City maintain vacant homes and empty lots before they become overgrown eyesores.

Mayor hosting franchise seminar to encourage job growth

Zero tolerance enforcement reduces Canton crime by 14%

Mayor William Healy released statistics this week that indicate the city saw a 14% reduction in crime during his first year in office as a result of his administration’s “zero tolerance” crime policies.  Healy said the statistics are an indication that the administration’s aggressive police efforts are having their intended effect.
