MEDIA ADVISORY: Police-Citizen Encounters on May 29, 2020
CANTON, OHIO – From the desk of Mayor Thomas M. Bernabei
I today received from Safety Director Andrea Perry her report entitled “Review of Police-Citizen Encounters on May 29, 2020.” A copy is attached. Please contact Director Perry at email@example.com with questions or concerns regarding her report.
I am not prepared to comment on the report until I have had the opportunity to thoroughly review it. I thereafter intend to meet with Safety Director Perry and Chief of Police Angelo and review the report and its findings and recommendations with them. This matter is and will be taken very seriously.
Related to this, on June 2, 2020, I endorsed the “Eight Can’t Wait” national use of force standards and committed the City’s review of our policies and adoption of those standards. That review is ongoing in detail and I anticipate completion by approximately mid-August.
