Water Department - Meter Replacement Program

Dear Valued Canton Water Department Customer,

In July 2014, the Canton Water Department will begin the citywide replacement of residential and commercial water meters and the associated meter transmitting units (MTUs). Originally installed in the late 1990s, both the meters and MTUs have reached the end of their useful life cycle and need to be replaced.

The City has selected Professional Meters, Inc. (PMI) as the installation contractor who will oversee the water meter and MTU replacements. Local certified plumbers working on behalf of PMI will conduct the on premises installations.

You will receive a postcard from PMI to let you know when it is time to schedule your appointment. Due to the large number of meters and MTUs that are being installed, you may not be contacted to schedule an appointment for several months.
